Mechanical Engineering.

Here are a few examples that highlight our Mechanical Engineering experience.

HVAC & Utilities for New Aseptic Filling Room
Varo designed a new aseptic filling room to clean room standards to be constructed within the existing plant. The project included wall foundations, a new floor with drains, room finishes, a dedicated HVAC system and fume ventilation. Varo also designed and programmed the PCL based controls for the HVAC unit.

HVAC & Utilities for Bulk Bag Filling “Clean” Room
Varo designed a new, bulk bag filling room to clean room standards to be constructed within the existing plant. The project included new walls, room finishes, a dedicated HVAC system, HVAC equipment platform, process equipment platforms, electrical power and lighting. Varo also designed the PLC based controls for the process and HVAC systems.

HVAC Improvements for Aseptic Filling Machine
Varo performed a review of the hydrogen peroxide fume issue in the aseptic filling room. As a result of the review, Varo designed a special fume hood and exhaust system with ductwork and a fan to remove fumes at the inlet and outlet of the aseptic filling machine. The capture hoods were designed to allow full view and access, while not impacting production and maintenance. In addition, vane dampers were installed in the main air handling return unit.

Hopkins Hall Dust Collection System
Varo replaced the existing laboratory dust collection system at Hopkins Hall with a new system designed in accordance with current industrial dust collection standards. Varo’s design included a gas fired makeup air heater, pulse jet dust collection system, dust collector ductwork, and flexible dust pickup hoods. The power feeds, electrical power design and performed load analysis were also provided by Varo.

High Pressure Pump Test Facility
Varo designed a test facility for high-pressure water pumps. The scope included specification of the piping system including backpressure valves, pressure relief valves, and all control valves to allow in process pumps to be tested before shipping. The design also included a closed circulation loop, as well as water filters and sump cooling. The Sump cooling was provided by a cooling coil installed in the sump connected to a glycol run-around system and a cooling tower.
